The
CAD Evolution Centre is a purpose built facility, established
within the Manufacturing, Technology Training Centre of Coleg
Morgannwg, to assist firms who already utilise, or wish to
utilise, computer aided design, computer aided manufacture
and peripheral services.
The centre is part of the Knowledge Exploitation Funds programme,
which aims to release the inherent knowledge contained within
educational establishments, for the betterment of industry
and the economy as a whole.
The Centre allows you access to
state of the art equipment running 2D & 3D software,
provides help and guidance throughout the design process,
a business analysis service
and can point you in the right direction towards available
funding.
These facilities can be used to convert 2D to 3D, create
an animation to portray your product professionally and effectively,
and allows virtual prototyping concepts. This could help
you to evaluate your decisions and reduce potential errors,
reducing the time and costs of product research and development.
The systems available at the centre include CATIA, Solid
Works, Inventor Series, Pro Engineer, Mechanical Desktop
and AutoCAD 2004, amongst others. The centre also has both
lathe and mill CNC machinery utilising CAM programming.
There is a help service available
to assist firms with any difficulties they may be experiencing
in the areas of CAD & CAM,
but has also addressed problems outside of this area, so
if there is anything you require assistance with then please
ask and if we can’t help then we probably know a man
who can.
The CAD Evolution Centre is also
the base for the CAD evolution forum, where users of CAD/CAM
can come to network, problem
solve, establish collaborative projects, source suppliers
and benefit from a range of supply chain, CAD & CAM seminars.
This is all underpinned by our relationships with industry
sectors, ELWa, Local Authorities, WDA, Know How Wales amongst
others. Our aims are to provide the necessary help and guidance
so that firms like yours can harness the full potential of
the technology and processes they possess, and act as a catalyst
for the adoption of their next stage strategies.
If you would be interested in knowing any more about the
project, like to try out the software, access any of the
services on offer, or would like to join the CAD evolution
forum, then please get in contact using the details supplied.
