Students studying in the Curriculum Area of Technology (Construction and Science) are encouraged to develop a wide range of learning skills using excellent modern equipment and facilities.
Students can study either full or part-time and gain valuable academic and/or vocational qualifications for both present and future employment.
Included within the provision are the traditional National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ’s), City & Guilds, BTEC National Certificates & Diplomas, all providing the essential vocational qualifications for quality employment and/or progression into higher educational studies.
Traditional GCSE, AS and A2 programmes are also offered enabling students to build a portfolio of qualifications acceptable to a range of employers and/or higher educational establishments. Key Skills and Basic Skills Support are offered to all our students.
We currently have a new state of the art multi million pound Science and Technology Centre at the Nantgarw Campus, fully refurbished Science Laboratories with Information Learning Technology support at the Pontypridd Campus, a new Plumbing test centre at the Aberdare Campus and excellent construction trades teaching facilities at the Rhondda Campus.
These serve to ensure that Coleg Morgannwg offers outstanding teaching facilities and support to all students who wish to study the Construction Trades including Sciences and Mathematics.
The Technology (Construction and Science) Curriculum Area offers a range of Construction Courses from Entry Level through to Foundation Degree. GCSE’s, AS and A2 level programmes in the Sciences and including Mathematics are also offered. Full and Part-time modes of study are available including distance learning on some programmes. Building Surveying, Plumbing, Electrical Installations, Bricklaying, Carpentry and Painting/Decorating courses provide excellent opportunities for those wishing to learn the construction trades.
Biology/Human Biology, Human Physiology & Health, Environmental Science and Mathematics courses provide excellent opportunities for those wishing to learn the Sciences.
The Management and Teaching staff welcome enquires from all students who seek to learn and/or gain employment and a career in the Construction Industry, Science and/or Mathematics.
